Volunteer: Without volunteers, this website will be nothing more than one of the thousands out there that fade into the mist. If you have time to research the Internet for information to post to this website, we’d welcome to have you on as a volunteer. If we get enough interest, we will build a fully integrated website to replace this blog. Please email us on editors [at] propertyplettenberg [dot] com.

Disclosure: Although some of our editors are South Africans, this site is not South African and by no means bound to South African laws.

Freedom of expression is supported in South Africa, under section 16, Chapter 2 of the South African Constitution.
“Everyone has the right to freedom of expression, which includes freedom of press and other media; freedom to receive or impart information or ideas; freedom of artistic creativity; and academic freedom and freedom of scientific research”.

The Act No. 4 of 2000 on the promotion of equality and prevention of unfair discrimination contains the following clause:

10. (1) Subject to the proviso in section 12. no person may publish, propagate, advocate or communicate words based on one or more of the prohibited grounds, against any person, that could reasonably be construed to demonstrate a clear intention to -
(a) be hurtful;
(b) be harmful or to incite harm;
(c) promote or propagate hatred.

Which is why we offer any indvidual, company or organization the chance to contact us on editors [at] propertyplettenberg [dot] com and express concerns of being hurt or damaged by any of our reports.  We will immediately study the complaint and take action where appropriate.

Even though not being bound to South African laws, we respect, in every reasonable way  possible, the South African specific rulings on Free Speech.

Expressions of concern: We find it extremely regretful that the current South African ANC government s currently considering amending the country’s constitution.

Zapiro, South Africa’s most famous political cartoonist, has been locked in public & legal battle with Jacob Zuma over his consistent depiction of Zuma with a shower head attached to his head – a reference to evidence Jacob Zuma gave during his rape trial – & more recently a cartoon depicting Zuma about to rape Lady Justice with the help of various political figures – a reference to his intention of avoiding justice by manipulating the constitution itself.
